Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser earned the bronze medal Sunday at the FIVB World Tour Grand Slam Tournament in Moscow, Russia.
The local duo outlasted China’s Wu Penggen and Xu Linyin in a tight third-place match, 25-27, 24-22, 17-15.
Rogers-Dalhausser lost to the Chinese team in last year’s Moscow final.
This was the second straight podium finish for Rogers-Dalhausser on the FIVB World Tour. They were knocked into the third place match by the surprising Swiss team of Patrick Heuscher and Jefferson Bellaguarda. The 12th-seeded Swiss won their semifinal battle 21-16, 14-21, 15-12.
Heuscher-Bellaguarda lost in the gold-medal match to Brazil’s Emanuel Rego and Alison Cerutti,16-21, 21-18, 15-17. It was fifth title of the season for the Brazilians, who fought off two match points.
The World Tour continues next week in Canada at the Quebec Open.
