Janelle Nguyen won the 16-over 200 butterfly at the Southern California Swimming Junior Olympics in Thousand Oaks.
Janelle Nguyen of the Santa Barbara Aquatics Club won the 200 butterfly at the Southern California Swimming Junior Olympics at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks on Wednesday.
Nguyen was time in 2:20.58. She was in a close race with Dari Watkins of West Coast Swimming but pulled away in the last 50 meters to win by nearly two seconds.
Once she is finished at the JOs, Nguyen will be headed to Mexico as part of a Southern California All-Star team that will compete against Mexico and Canada in the North American Cup Challenge.
