Goleta Valley South batted around in the first inning and scored nine runs en route to a 14-2 win over Santa Maria Northside to stay alive in the Section 1 11-Under Little League All-Star Tournament on Monday night in Nipomo.
The game was called after the fourth inning on the 10-run mercy rule.
Alex Furukawa and Bryce Quezada each had two hits in the inning. Sam Drew drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single and Kevin Barker followed with another single for two RBIs. Furukawa, who led off the game with a double, had a RBI single and Quezada drove in two runs with his second hit of the inning, a drive down the right-field line.
GVS struck again in the third. Trey Tank belted a three-run homer to center and Nisbet followed with a solo shot to center. After Jake Sofro drew a walk, Isaac Oh ripped a RBI double to the wall
Santa Maria got on the board in the fourth inning with Tony Rodrigues, Mike Ramirez and Vincent Nuno hitting singles to score two runs.
Goleta Valley South is back in action Tuesday against Moorpark.
