Michael Tetteh played the entire 90 minutes in his debut for Orlando City SC in a 2-0 win over the Rochester Rhinos in a USL-Pro match last week.
Tetteh, who signed a Generation adidas contract after his junior season at UCSB, was taken by the Seattle Sounders in the MLS SuperDraft and was playing with the Sounders reserve team, was loaned to Orlando City last week.
“It’s important for Michael to get games at a good level,” Seattle coach Sigi Schmid said in a statement to the Orlando Sentinel about the loan.
Tetteh can be recalled by Seattle at any time.
Tetteh was playing as a left-sided defender and outside midfielder for the Sounder reserves. He scored two goals in six MLS Reserve League games.
Schmid said Tetteh was still figuring out where he wanted to play on the field.
“He does some good things,” the coach said. “He’s a very good attacking left-back and he’s a good defending wide-left midfielder. For him, he’s got offensive skills and some unpredictability in his play attacking-wise that brings some good things to the field. With him, as all young players, it’s a matter of consistency and also sometimes responsibility defensively, but his potential is definitely there.”
In the game against Rochester, Tetteh faced former Gauchos Alfonso Motagalvan and Tyler Rosenlund.
