Travis Craven of Dos Pueblos Little League struck out seven in three innings and combined with Dustin Demeter to shut out Carpinteria 18-0 in five innings in a District 63 Junior Division All-Star Tournament game on Saturday.
Nick Noggle went 4-for-4 with a grand slam and would have hit for the cycle if not held at second base on a hit with an obvious value of a triple, said DP manager Brian Craven. “He was held at second to show good sportsmanship as to not run up the score.
“Our team has allowed only one run and scored 29 in the first three games of All-Star tournament play,” Craven added.
Dos Pueblos moves into final double-elimination bracket to decide the District 63 championship in Santa Paula.
“The boys have played superb defense while hitting the ball all over the park. We will need to continue this level of play to continue to advance,” said Craven.
