CONEJO — Tuesday night’s baseball game between the Santa Barbara Foresters and the Conejo Oaks at Cal Lutheran University was halted after seven innings due to darkness. At the time, the score was 10-7 in favor of the Oaks. The game will be continued at a later date to be determined, while the teams will face off in the series finale at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
Santa Barbara had taken an early lead on a 3-run homer by Michael Ratterree in the top of the first, but the Oaks responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Foresters committed four errors on the evening, leaving manager Bill Pintard frustrated.
“We played terrible. We took a step backwards. We wasted nine hits and nine walks,” he said. “We were making errors and I didn’t think we competed on the mound. Four errors, and not only that, you can’t count mental errors too… We’re not playing to our ability and our potential, and as a coach and a coaching staff that’s the worst thing you can have.”
All games are broadcast on AM 990 and www.sbforesters.org, with Wednesday’s broadcast beginning at 6 p.m.
