UCSB’s Ryan Martin advanced to the final of the men’s 800 meters on Wednesday at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
Martin ran 1:46.29 to finish fourth in the fastest of three heats. The heat was won by rival Charles Jock of UC Irvine (1:45.77). Four qualifiers came out of the heat.
Martin beat Jock for the Big West title in a school-record time of 1:45.34.
The 800 final is scheduled for Friday at 7:20 p.m. EDT.
