Walker Bell and his teammates from the Santa Barbara Swim Club were all over the place in Nite Moves No. 9 on Wednesday at Leadbetter Beach.
Walker, who recently celebrated his 14th birthday, won his eighth 1k swim in a time of 13 minutes, 56 seconds. Former Auburn University swim star Adrienne Binder was second in 14:16 and Jim West was third in 14:29. The fifth-place finisher and second female was SBSC’s Olivia Smith, 13, in 14:58.
In the 5k run, Cuyler Gabriel, 13, of the swim club, finished third in 17:52. Tyler Hansen won in 17:09 and James Gaston took second in 17:42. Addi Zerrenner, 15, was the first female finisher in 18:05.
The swim-run aquathon was won by local triathlete Kyle Vistin in 37:22. It was a tight battle for the first female finisher. The 9th through 13th-place overall finishers were female, led by Dos Pueblos coach Leslie Roth in 44:05. She was followed by Danielle Lipski (44:07), Samantha Jet (44:19), Sara Mandes (44:21) and the 13-year-old Smith (44:29).
Next Wednesday’s Nite Moves will be part of Semana Nautica, Santa Barbara’s summer sports festival.
