Three members of the Santa Barbara Swim Club earned spots on an all-star team that will compete in an international meet in Mexico in August.
Olivia Smith, Maelyn Adornetto and James Daugherty qualified for the Southern California Swimming All-Stars at meets last weekend. The team is made up of the best 80 swimmers from Southern California.
They’ll attend the International Age-Group Championship. Also, SBSC head age-group coach JJ Jones has been named to the Southern California team’s coaching staff. He’ll coach the 13-14 girls.
Daugherty won the 13-14 division 200 breaststroke and posted the overall fastest time at the June Age-Group Championships in Ventura.
Adornetto competed at the TYR Fran Crippen Memorial Meet in Mission Viejo, where her considerable drops in times in the 100 and 200 breaststroke qualified her for the all-star team.
Club members Lolo Blair, 19, Emro Williams, 17, and Emily Swindle, 15, also compted at the Crippen meet.
Blair swam in the championship heat of the 100 backstroke and clocked in at 1:04.09, just 10 seconds shy from qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Trials in her second event. She qualified in the 200 backstroke last summer at the L.A. Invitational.
