Mason Radeke, a former Santa Barbara High standout and the outstanding pitcher award winner for Cal Poly, was picked in the 35th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Cleveland Indians.
Radeke ranked second in the Big West in wins with nine and strikeouts with 95. He was a first-team all-conference selection. In 15 starts for the Mustangs, he posted a 3.07 ERA.
Radeke, a junior, was a 41st-round pick by the Chicago White Sox after his senior year at Santa Barbara High.
Also being selected on the final day of the three-day draft was UCSB pitcher Matt Vedo. He went to the Los Angeles Angels in the 49th round. The right-hander went 6-6 in 14 starts for the Gauchos and posted a 4.32 ERA.
