The Goleta Valley South Little League 11-year-old all-stars opened the District 63 Tournament in impressive fashion, blowing out Fillmore 13-0 in a game called after 3 1/2 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Jake Sofro got Goleta Valley South going with a bases-loaded double in the first inning. Evan Kling drove in two more runs with a smash to the fence.
In the second inning, Kling drove in another run with line drive to the fence.
Goleta Valley South finished up the scoring in the third inning with a laser-shot by Sam Drew, and an RBI single by Alex Furukawa.
Trey Tank, Colter Nisbet and Kevin Barker combined to pitch a two-hit shutout, with Nisbet striking out the side in the third inning.
