Ciena Colburn from Dos Pueblos High has signed to play volleyball at Westmont starting this coming fall. The 6-1 Colburn stated at middle blocker for the Chargers who won the Channel League championships.
“I am very excited about Ciena joining our team,” said Westmont head coach Jim Smoot. “She is a very versatile player who is able to play several positions and will help us solidify our attack.”
Colburn and the Chargers posted a perfect 8-0 league season this past season to claim the Channel League Championships. In addition to her high school experience, Colburn played for six years with the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club.
“I am excited to be going to Westmont and glad that I can play in college,” said Colburn. “I was injured and not sure if I would be able to continue playing. Volleyball is my passion and I am happy for the opportunity to play.”
Westmont begins its quest for a berth in the 2011 NAIA National Championship at the Biola Tournament in La Mirada on August 26-27. The Warriors return 13 players from last year’s squad.
