Defense made the difference for Dos Pueblos Little League in a 2-1 victory over Montalvo in the District 63 Junior Division All-Star Tournament on Thursday.
Dos Pueblos turned two double plays to deny Montalvo from taking the lead.
“This game represented the best defense I have ever seen at this level of play,” said DP manager Brian Craven. “Special consideration should be given to Dustin Demeter, who made a miraculous catch of a line drive at second which resulted in one of the double plays. It was clearly a rally killer.”
Erik Olson and Luke Coffey provided solid pitching. Olson allowed only a couple of hits in five innings and Coffey closed the door on Montalvo in the seventh inning to notch the victory.
