SBCC’s Nicci Yvanovich and Amy Sagraves achieved their seed on Saturday in the Southern Cal Regional women’s tennis tournament at Grossmont College in El Cajon.
Yvanovich-Sagraves, the No. 4 seed, fell to No. 5 Jazmin Ortiz-Sharon Reibstein off Grossmont 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals. But the Vaquero duo still placed in the top four for all of Southern California.
“We didn’t play as well as we did (on Friday),” said coach Debbie Ekola. “It was a long tournament and they never got their energy up today.”
Yvanovich qualified for State in singles and will team with Sagraves in doubles at the State Finals on May 13-14 in Fresno.
