Carpinteria breezed through the first round of the CIF Division 6 softball playoffs on Thursday, collecting 24 hits to beat Whitney High 21-1 at Carpinteria.
Roxy Hugo dominated at the plate, connecting on two home runs in the game, including a grand slam in the first inning. She hit a 2-run homer in the second. Hugo finished 4-5 with six RBIs.
Sarah Carrillo had a solo home run in the second. Carrillo finished 3-4.
The Wildcats also hit a home run in the first inning, but couldn’t get any more production against Catalina Maldonado.
Maldonado pitched another outstanding complete-game performance for the Warriors, firing 12 strikeouts and allowed only three hits. She moves to 16-5 for the year.
Dakotah Wilcox was perfect at the plate, going 5-5 with two doubles and a triple.
