UCSB is holding a press conference on Thursday to introduce its new women’s basketball coach.
Westmont College’s Kirsten Moore and Rutgers associate women’s basketball coach Carlene Mitchell are considered the finalists for the job, which became open last month when Lindsay Gottlieb accepted the coaching position at Cal after three years at the helm.
The press conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Reitnouer Auditorium in the Intercollegiate Athletics Building on campus.
Mitchell has worked along side Rutgers coaching legend C. Vivian Stringer for 10 seasons. Together, they’ve directed the Scarlet Knights to eight straight NCAA Tournament appearances and a spot in the regional semifinals in five of the last seven campaigns.
Moore has coached at Westmont for the last six years, posting a record of 112-70 and guiding the Warriors to four NAIA National Tournaments.
Moore played NCAA Division 1 basketball at the University of Oregon.
