The doubles team of Cooper Matthieson and Graham Maassen from Santa Barbara High advanced to the Round of 16 of the CIF Individual Doubles Tournament on Thursday after winning their Round of 32 match in straight sets on Thursday at the Whittier Narrows Tennis Center.
Matthieson and Maassen swept Jon Jason/Drew Freeman from Beverly Hills, 6-4, 6-3. They hit the courts at Seal Beach Tennis Center Friday for the championship round.
Channel League MVP Chris Grant fell 6-1, 6-3 to Garrett Approux from Burroughs in singles competition.
Santa Barbara’s doubles team of Morgan Hale and Jack Damen also fell in two sets to Adam Schwartz and Victor Vu from Brentwood, 6-2, 6-2.
