Hannah Harris pitched a three-hit shutout and fired 11 strikeouts to help Dos Pueblos softball advance to the quarterfinals of the CIF Division 4 softball playoffs by beating Whittier Christian 3-0 on Tuesday.
Dos Pueblos faces Ocean View High at Huntington Beach in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 3:15 p.m.
The Chargers started off the game with a Chloe Madill double, followed by a Jordan Roberts single. Marisa Radeke brought them both home on a sacrifice fly and a fielder’s error.
Freshman Monica Salas scored an insurance run in the fifth off a Roberts sacrifice fly to left field with the bases loaded.
“It was a great game to watch. We played a really good team, and had a few troubles in a couple of innings, but we were able to get out,” said coach Donn Roberts.
Jordan Roberts finished 2-for-2 with one RBI and one earned run.
Madill finished 2-3 with one run.
Coach Roberts credited the team’s defense for its success.
“Our defense is really gelling, and we are playing so well together,” he said. “This is the fourth game we’ve shut out our opponent, and in those four we only had one error combined.”
