Hannah Harris of Dos Pueblos and San Marcos’ Kristen Berlo each put on dominating performances on the mound, combining for 24 strikeouts.
However, it was the two home runs by DP’s Chloe Madill and Jordan Roberts that decided the 4-0 Chargers softball victory and clinched the Channel League title at 10-1.
Both Harris and Berlo pitched a complete game, with Harris fanning 11 Royals. Berlo fired 13 strikeouts.
With the game scoreless after three innings, Roberts stepped up in the top of the fourth by hitting a solo home-run. Dos Pueblos continued with two more runs after another hit and a San Marcos error.
Madill hit a solo home run in the seventh.
San Marcos fell to 12-10 overall and 4-7 in the Channel League.
“We had solid defense from the minute we started, though the offense took some time to get a feel of how Kristen was throwing,” said DP coach Donn Roberts. “We played solid and had only one fielding error. They were threatening in the seventh inning, but a great play by Amber Altavilla ended the game for us.”
Dos Pueblos plays a Senior Day game at home against San Marcos on Thursday.
