Gauchos lose finale, say goodbye to 14 seniors

UCSB said goodbye to 14 seniors on Sunday, as all who were capable played a part in the team’s final game of the 2011 season.

Mark Haddow had three of UCSB’s 14 hits and drove in two runs to lead an offensive charge, but it wasn’t enough in an 8-5 defeat to Pacific.

UCSB, which won its final two weekend series of the year, finishes the season 26-26 overall and 10-14 in the Big West.

Nick Capito allowed seven runs on 11 hits in five innings as four seniors followed the lefty – Bryce Uhrig, Connor Whalen, Beck Wheeler and Brett Fick.

Ben Edelstein, another senior, had two hits and scored two runs.

The two non-seniors who played — Steven Moon and Bryce Tafelski — combined for three hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
