Carpinteria’s Shelby Dunlap and David Cornejo each qualified for the CIF Prelims in three events Thursday at the Tri-Valley League track and field finals.
Dunlap won the league title in the girls long jump at 5-2, which equaled her career best. She also finished second in the 300 hurdles and 100 hurdles.
Cornejo bounced from an injury suffered at the County Championships and finished second in the 300 hurdles and long jump. He was also part of the 4×400 relay team that qualified with an at-large time of 3:33.02 The other team members are Alex Rodriguez, Aron Uribe and Travis Madden.
Madden qualified in the 800 with a third-place finish.
In field events, Wyatt Craddock thew a PR of 45-1.5 to finished third and qualify for CIF; sophomore Andrew Hack made it the pole vault with a height of 11-0.
There were seven meet records set in the meet, five by Oaks Christian (boys 4×100 relay, 42.28; Alexandra Courtnall 24.91 in the girls 200; Danni Alakija 57.17 in the girls 400; girls 4×100 relay, 48.46; girls 4×400 relay, 3:57.77).
Sydney Lewis of Oak Park set two records, 11.99 in the 100 and 45.9 in the 300 hurdles.
