Santa Barbara’s Conner Coffin reached the semis of the Oakley Pro Junior at Lower Trestles on Friday and will be up against some stiff competition in Saturday’s final two rounds.
Coffin advanced through a pair of heats on Friday without winning either one. His two-wave score of 10.63 just edged Victor Done’s 10.14 in the quarterfinals. Keanu Asing won the heat.
Kolohe Andino, Nat Young, Dylan Goodale and Asing were winners in the quarterfinals.
Asing and Coffin will see each other again in one of the semifinal heats, along with Young and Andrew Doheny. Andino, Goodale, Tayler Brothers and Jack Freestone are in the other.

Coffin, 17, also competed in the main event Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro as a wild-card and surfed in his opening round heat with Dane Reynolds, Kekoa Bacalso and Gony Zubinarreta. Coffin registered a 13.60 but Reynolds and Bacalso scored higher to advance.
The Oakley Pro Junior and Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro are being run simultaneously at the same venue.
