SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara’s Krista Cobb had a workhorse effort in her final series of the 2011 season, resulting in Big West Pitcher of the Week accolades.
The junior pitched every inning of UCSB’s sweep of UC Davis, including a couple of extra inning affairs.
Cobb’s first start was a nine-inning showing as she allowed nine hits, three runs, walked three and struck out three in a 4-3 Gaucho win.
Game two saw Cobb go all eight innings of a 3-2 win, allowing six hits, two runs (both unearned), one walk and striking out five.
Cobb was able to hold the Aggies at bay in game three, going seven innings and allowing four hits, no runs, walking two and striking out four in a 2-0 win.
For the series, Cobb posted a 0.88 ERA in 24 innings and allowed just two extra-base hits and three earned runs the entire series.
The honor marks Cobb’s second Big West Pitcher of the Year accolade of the season and the seventh of her career.
