Danny Zandona, Kees t’Sas and Spencer Fraker combined to score all of Santa Barbara’s runs to help beat Ventura 6-3 in the Channel League champions’ final regular-season game.
Ventura scored the first two runs of the game in the third inning to take the lead 2-0.
Santa Barbara quickly answered back in the bottom with a Fraker two-run home run to tie up the score. Zandona kept it going by smashing a deep two-run double to bring the score to 4-2.
t’Sas added a two-run homer of his own in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 6-2.
Ventura was able to score one run in the seventh.
“We were efficient with the bat today. Not a lot of hits, but the ones we did have really counted,” said assistant coach Mike Cooney.
Collin Dewell pitched a complete game for the Dons, allowing seven hits while striking out five.
“Collin continues his development. I was really pleased that he could pitch a complete game for us. It’s important that we have two strong pitchers coming into the playoffs,” said Cooney
Santa Barbara moved to 20-6 overall, 11-1 in Channel League.
