Carpinteria softball must learn to share the top spot in the Frontier League after losing a crucial game to Santa Clara, 4-2 , on Thursday at Santa Clara.
The Warriors only league loss of the season proved to be the most important, as Santa Clara tied Carpinteria at 7-1 with the win. Only two games remain for the Warriors.
Santa Clara started strong out the gate, scoring two runs in the first and third innings
Carpinteria scored its only two runs in the sixth inning, off two singles and a Santa Clara error to bring the score to 4-2.
Catalina Maldonado pitched another complete game, allowing nine hits and striking out four.
“Catalina pitched well enough to win, but we just couldnt get our offense going,” said coach Henry Gonzales
Warriors dropped to 17-5 overall, and plays Tuesday at home against Santa Paula, and Thursday at home against Villanova
