Bishop Diego to play top-seeded team at home

Bishop Diego won a coin-flip to get a home game against top-seeded Oxford Academy in the second round of the CIF Division 6 baseball playoffs on Tuesday.

The Cardinals (13-7) will be facing a team with a record of 23-2 and a batting average of .308.

Dos Pueblos also will be home on Tuesday, thanks to its 5-4 upset at top-seeded Cypress in Division 2. The Chargers (20-8) will face another tough Orange County team in Mission Viejo (19-14). The Diablos, with three players who have committed to NCAA Division 1 programs, were ranked No. 1 in Southern California for a few weeks this season.

Santa Barbara (21-6) travels to a familiar place for its Division 2 second-round game. The Dons play at Yucaipa (24-6), where they lost in the quarterfinals last year.

In softball, Dos Pueblos and Carpinteria both travel for their second-round games on Tuesday. DP goes to Whittier Christian in Division 4 and Carpinteria visits Mayfield in Division 6.
