Danny Zandona enjoyed a career day for the Santa Barbara High baseball team on Tuesday.
The senior pitched a complete-game shutout and belted a grand slam, leading the Dons to a 10-0 Channel League victory over Buena at Eddie Mathews Field.
“It was a Zandona day,” assistant coach Mike Cooney said. “He played really well, and had his second shutout of the season. He was in charge the whole game.”
Zandona allowed four hits and stuck out eight.
He hit the grand slam in the fifth inning to give the Dons a 7-0 lead.
Catcher Colin Eaton hit a solo home run in the seventh inning, his first of the season.
Santa Barbara scored three runs in the third inning. The first run was scored on a ground out by Collin Dewell with the bases loaded. Cameron Gniadek then stole home. The third run was scored on a two-out single by Kees t’Sas.
Santa Barbara moves to 13-4 overall and 4-0 in league. Buena drops to 9-3 and 2-2 in league
The teams play again at Buena on Friday.
