The 2011 College Golf Combines will expand its schedule to four regional combines and will increase the opportunities for junior golfers to be evaluated by College Golf Coaches.
More than 600 recruits and 150 coaches are expected to participate at the four combines. The combines began in 2008 and have been very successful in bringing exposure to junior golfers seeking to continue their golf careers at the collegiate level on a golf scholarship. Combine participants have already received more than $3.5 million in college scholarships.
The combines will bring together junior golfers and College Golf Coaches from the Division I, II, III, NAIA and junior college levels. The East Combine is June 27-29 in Ocean City, MD; South Combine is July 5-7 in Myrtle Beach, SC; Midwest Combine is July 11-13 in St. Louis, MO and West Combine is July 18-20 in Beaumont, CA.
The combines will offer much more than a normal three-day junior golf tournament and are the only junior tournaments in the country that College Golf Coaches will register in advance to attend and receive a Coach’s Book with detailed resumes for all participants. Many of the combine participants are multi-sport high school athletes that have decided to focus on golf and are improving monthly during their sophomore, junior and senior years. Registration is open to all 2011-2017 recruits and current junior college players.
“We will build on the success of the previous combines to provide recruits from each region of the United States and throughout the world a very unique pressure packed experience while being evaluated by College Golf Coaches. The combine begins with the Skills Challenges on Day 1 and is followed by 36 holes of Medal Play on Day 2 & 3, with the results included in the national rankings. There is also a recruiting seminar for participants and their parents.” Kimberly Campbell, Tournament Director.
Coaches that attended the combines have said:
“In my 25 years of coaching I found the College Golf Combines to be the most productive recruiting experience I have ever had. I was able to see short game challenges, swing speeds, accuracy with irons and watch the prospects play 36 holes of medal play competition as well. The Coach’s Book was very detailed and provided much needed information for future correspondences.” Women’s Golf Coach
“They have combines for football and other sports. Why not do it for golf and let the coaches see the young golfers who are serious about looking for a college scholarship.” Men’s Golf Coach
“I have been coaching college golfers for 13 years and the combine was the most productive recruiting tournament I have ever attended. We early signed a recruit that the combine format allowed me to watch every part of his game under pressure. He shot 80, but was 2 under par for 14 holes of the tournament round. He finished top 10 in the short game skills, was 13th of 103 in driving stats and 14th of 101 in wedge stats on Trackman. I will be attending combines every summer for as long as I am coaching.” Men’s & Women’s Golf Coach
