Carpinteria baseball gave up a crucial three runs in the third inning and lost at St. Bonaventure 5-1 on Friday in a Tri-Valley League game.
The Warriors scored their only run in the second with a single from Tom Arellano to drive in Trevor Madden.
St. Bonaventure used three walks and an error to take a 3-1 lead. The Seraphs’ Justin Strayer had a RBI double in the inning.
“We competed well with St. Bonaventure,” said coach Pat Cooney. “Our confidence is growing by playing with some good teams.”
Seraph starting pitcher Cody Kurz allowed only one hit in six innings.
Colton Rubio started as pitcher for the Warriors, while Diego Martinez threw two innings of relief.
Carpinteria fell to 1-3 in the Tri Valley League, and 5-6 overall. St. Bonaventure improves to 4-1 in league and 6-9 overall.
