Carson Clark, a junior opposite hitter for UC Irvine’s volleyball team, has been honored as Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week.
The Santa Barbara High grad led the Anteaters to wins over UCLA and UCSB last week. He pounded 22 kills in a playoff-clinching victory against the Bruins and had 19 kills, three aces and six digs in the win against the Gauchos on the road. In that match, he rallied his team after a first-set defeat, hitting .565 over the next three sets.
For the week, the 6-5 Clark hit .447 and averaged 5.12 kills per set.
This is the second time Clark has won the National Player of the Week award. He last won it the week of April 12, 2010.
