SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Madison Serrano of Chandler, Arizona has signed to play volleyball at Westmont College beginning in the fall of 2011. A first team all-region selection as a junior and senior, the 5-9 outside hitter is a graduate of Basha High School where she averaged 3.5 kills per set last season.
“Madison is an explosive player with a good jump,” said Westmont Volleyball head coach Jim Smoot, “She hits the ball hard and is a good all-around player. We think she is really going to add something to our outside attack.”
Serrano received multiple all-tournament team honors including at the Millennium Tournament in both her junior and senior years. She was twice named for All-State honorable mention recognition and was named player of the week by both Varsity Zone and Channel 3.
Serrano is used to competing at a high level. As a club player for East Valley Juniors, Serrano’s 18-1 team finished first in the state and received a bid to the national tournament. Her 17-1 team was second in the State of Arizona and had a fourth place finish at the Reno Volleyball Festival.
