Laguna Blanca opened Condor league play with a three-game sweep of league rival Cate, 25-15, 25-23, 25-15, on Wednesday.
The seniors led the way for the Owls (5-10, 1-0) in their final athletic competition at Cate School.
Spencer Dusebout had 11 kills, 5 digs, and 4 aces; Peter Sorensen and Pascal Karam each contributed 9 kills and Karam added 11 digs. Connor Gray had 14 digs to go with two aces.
“We played okay tonight,” Laguna coach Dillan Bennett said. “I think we still need to work on our free-ball offensive execution and our defensive positioning.
“I thought our middles did a great job of working hard tonight. Peter had one play where he had to transition 3 or 4 times. Normally our middles jump on the block and think their job is done, but Peter really showed improvement tonight by transitioning off the net. Those little plays will make a big difference against Windward on Saturday.”
The Owls are at home against Division 4 powerhouse Windward at noon.
