Madison sets tone for DP win over Santa Ynez

Jared Madison won a tough match with Santa Ynez No. 1 Miles Seeman to spark Dos Pueblos to a 12-6 non-league tennis win on the road Friday.

“Jared was his usual calm, cool self and played smart,” DP coach Liz Frech said.

Madison easily won his other two sets without losing a game.

Greg Steigerwald posted two singles wins for the Chargers.

In doubles action, Jake Roberts and Caleb Franzen lost only six games in their three sets.  Peter Shao and Mason Casady lost a close set against the Pirates’ No. 1 team, then took control of the next two sets.

New partners Richard “Richie” Cheng and David “Smiley” Chan fought for every point and game.
“I noticed they moved a lot all over the court.  By the third set, they stayed energized and beat the No. 2s,” said Frech.

Dos Pueblos improves to 7-6, and will play a league match at Ventura on Tuesday.
