Designated hitter Tim Leary’s bases-loaded, two-RBI double in the top of the 10th inning proved to be the difference in Westmont Baseball’s 11-9 win over San Diego Christian (6-35, 4-27 GSAC) in the first game of a Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader.
The Warriors (17-27, 9-22) also won the second game, prevailing 6-4 in the seven-inning nightcap.
With the dual wins, Westmont has achieved its highest win total since the 2000 season when the Warriors were 26-20.
Dan Cabuling started the first game for the Warriors and pitched six inning, giving up four runs on nine hits. He walked two and struck out five. When he left the game at the end of the sixth, Cabuling and the Warriors were leading 6-4.
Leary had an outstanding day at the plate, going six for seven with a home run and a double in each game. The 6-8 slugger scored five times and drove in eight runs.
Brandon Allen also had a remarkable day, going six for nine with two RBIs and two triples.
