Sophomore Catalina Maldonado had a dominating pitching performance on Tuesday, throwing a no-hitter for Carpinteria in a 6-0 softball win over Santa Paula in a Frontier League match-up
Maldonado struck out four and moved to 8-3, giving Santa Paula its first league loss of the season.
“Catalina pitched very strongly against a good Santa Paula team,” praised coach Henry Gonzalez. “We had great plays on the field, a good game defensively.”
Roxanne Hugo hit a two-run homer for the Warriors, while Myriah Diaz pitched in with a triple. Tatiana Verdugo and Maldonado each had a double.
Carpinteria moved to 2-0 in league and 10-3 overall. The Warriors play Bishop Diego on Tuesday, April 19.
