Petar Jivkov swept his singles sets and helped lift San Marcos to an 11-7 win on Friday in a non-league match-up against San Luis Obispo.
Jivkov swept his sets 6-0, 6-2, 6-1, and scored the Royals only singles points in a close victory.
“We came out strong and dominated in the first round,” San Marcos coach Jarrod Bradley said. “We won every set by two breaks or more. In fact, every set of the match was decided by two breaks or more. I’ve never seen that in my ten years coaching high school tennis.”
Travis Enholm and Parker Funk swept their doubles sets for the ninth time this season.
“Parker and Travis served some amazing serves to their opponents’ backhands. San Luis’ courts are narrow and they did a great job taking SLOs players into the fence on their returns and winning some fun and easy points,” said Bradley
New duo Jackson Mann and Adam Smith played only their second game together and swept their doubles sets for the second straight time
“Jackson and Adam played more confidently as the match progressed. Adam served the final game against SLOs number one team in the final round by making all of his first serves, and that’s the way to close a team out.”
San Marcos improved to 10-3. The Royals host Santa Barbara on Tuesday.
