Hannah Harris was one hit shy of pitching a no-hitter in Dos Pueblos’ 6-0 win against San Marcos on Friday, extending the Chargers’ current win streak to five games.
Harris (9-4) also collected ten strikeouts and no walks in her complete 7-inning game.
“Hannah had a dominating performance. Our defense has been stellar,” said coach Donn Roberts.
The victory makes Dos Pueblos 4-0 in the Channel League while the Royals suffered their first loss in league play.
The Chargers began their offense in the third inning by scoring four runs with two outs. Jordan Roberts hit a single to bring in Harris for the first run of the game, while several singles brought in the remaining three before the final out.
Marisa Radeke was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs, while Haley Peterson had 2 hits and 2 RBIs for Dos Pueblos.
Kristen Berlo had the only hit for San Marcos.
Harris has pitched 21 innings in the past three wins for Dos Pueblos, allowing only one run, 22 strikeouts and only one walk against Camarillo, Santa Barbara, and San Marcos.
Jordan Roberts has also had a solid performance this week, scoring the winning run against Camarillo and going 3-3 with a triple and double in the win against Santa Barbara. Today, Roberts started the four-run inning with her single.
The Chargers rest with a bye week, then look to continue their win streak at the Don Lugo Tournament held in Thousand Oaks on April 16th. The Royals are on an opposite schedule, playing four games next week, starting with Ventura on Tuesday.
“There are really good teams in the upcoming tournament,” said Roberts. “We look forward to comparing ourselves with the best schools in the LA area.”
Dos Pueblos moves to 9-4 overall. San Marcos is 5-4 and 2-1.
