Mike Galsterer recorded a season-best 76 on Monday and SBCC finished sixth in WSC golf match No. 6 at par-71 Elkins Ranch in Fillmore.
Galsterer, a freshman from Carpinteria High, was making his third appearance of the year. His previous low was 87.
Canyons topped the seven-team field with 363 strokes (72.6 average). Glendale was second at 369 and Ventura shot 370. Andrew Garcia of Ventura and Chris Ramirez of Glendale tied for medalist honors at 1-under 70.
Canyons (36-0) has a 14-game lead over Hancock and Glendale (22-14) with four matches remaining.
SBCC had four players shoot 78 — Dodge Ward, Matt Boberg, Reese Hutchins and Kyle Rieb.
“This was a course where you can post good scores but the putting was tough for everyone,” said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. “It was the same story we’ve had all year — most of our guys had a couple of big numbers on a few holes.”
The Vaqueros will compete in WSC No. 7 on Monday at Rio Bravo CC in Bakersfield.
