High winds at the River Ridge golf course didn’t slow down the Santa Barbara golf team on Friday, as they breezed through Oak Park 404-430, with six players scoring within three strokes of each other.
The Don’ Mickey Kirby shared the medalist honor with Oak Park’s Alex Kim, both finishing with a 79.
Sean Searls finished with an 80, and Alec Constantinides shot an 81. Three of the final six players finished with an 82.
Coach James Bedard is pleased with his team’s balanced play, especially in drastic conditions.
“Again, consistent play proved to be the difference for us as all 6 players were separated by just 3 shots and any one of the boys could have been medalist today. High winds and punched greens made scoring conditions really tough. Winds were consistently blowing for the five-hour round at 30-40 mph.”
The win marks the final match for the Dons before the Channel League tournament on Tuesday at Soule Park in Ojai.
Santa Barbara moved to 17-3 overall, and 7-1 in the Channel league.
