The most studious softball team in the league can also hit. Dos Pueblos, the CIF academic softball team of the year, had a big day at the plate on Thursday, defeating the Santa Barbara Dons 16-1 to earn its fourth straight win in the Channel League.
Every player in the line-up got a hit for the Chargers in the 5-inning mercy rule win. They also allowed only three hits from Santa Barbara.
“We had some great pitching for the game, but it was all about hitting for us today,” said coach Donn Roberts.
Jordan Roberts led the Chargers offensively with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs.
Ashlynd Williams had two hits, with four RBIs and two runs scored. Hannah Harris, who also started as pitcher for the first 3 2/3 innings, hit two singles. Hailey Peterson was 2-3.
The Chargers combined for a total of 14 hits in the game.
Dos Pueblos next faces San Marcos (3-0) in a first-place league showdown on Friday.
“It was a great team effort. Now we have to get ready for a big match-up fight for first place against San Marcos,” said Roberts.
Chargers are 8-4 overall.
