Blake Mackall continued to dominate his opponents in singles and the new doubles team of Omar Khurshiv-Ahmed Bou-Rabee went undefeated, leading Cate to a 12-6 win over Laguna Blanca in a Condor League tennis match on Wednesday.
Mackall went 3-0 to improve to 20-1 in his last seven matches, and Austin Lokre and Gregory Mak also swept their three sets.
“Laguna coach Trevor Thorpe tried to put more weight into doubles and that left the singles open,” Cate coach Bob Bonning said. “There was one close set in singles.”
The doubles matches were more competitive. Khurshiv-Bou Rabee played together for the first time, as Khurshiv’s regular partner was taking a college trip, Bonning said. “They played very well at No. 3 doubles.”
Cate improves to 2-0 in Condor League and 3-5 overall. Laguna Blanca is 1-1 and 5-3.
