Sarah Carrillo belted a two-run homer in the sixth inning to lift Carpinteria to a 6-4 nonleague win over Santa Ynez on Monday.
“It was a good start to the week,” said Carpinteria coach Henry Gonzales, whos team improved to 8-3.
Santa Ynez scored in the top of the sixth to tie the score at 4-4.
In the bottom of the inning, No. 9 hitter Erin Saito singled to open the inning and Carrillo followed with her home run.
The Warriors scored three runs in the first inning. Myriah Diaz doubled in a run and Cat Maldonado and Elyse Rodriguez followed with run-scoring singles.
Santa Ynez scored two runs in the second inning and one in the third to tie the score. Carpinteria scored in the bottom of the third to take a 4-3 lead.
Carpinteria opens Frontier League on Thursday against Santa Clara.
