Carpinteria fell behind 11-1 after four innings against Nordhoff and battled back to make it close before falling 11-7 in a Tri-Valley League baseball game at Nordhoff on Wednesday.
“We hit rock bottom,” Carpinteria coach Pat Cooney said of the huge deficit. “We had trouble getting them out and trouble getting strikes.”

“We were looking for something positive,” Cooney said. “We scored five in the sixth and forced their Friday starter into the game.
“We won the last half of the game and turned a negative thing into a positive.”
Carrillo had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run and Franco had two hits and scored a run.
Carpinteria falls to 6-10 and 1-6 in the TVL. Nordhoff is 10-7, 3-5.
