Bull fans 17 in no-hitter for Reds

Dos Pueblos Little League pitcher Austin Bull was one batter shy of a perfect game April 23, striking out 17 to lead the Majors division Reds to a 6-0 victory over the Twins at Girsh Park.

Bull, a 12-year old student at Goleta Valley Junior High, pitched a complete-game no hitter (6 innings).

The Twins’ Ashton Borgeson drew a lead-off walk in the fifth inning to spoil the perfect game. The only ball that was put into play by the Twins was a third-inning bunt fielded by Red’s first baseman A. J. Jimenez and thrown to second baseman Davis Craig who recorded the out at first.

Bull is expected to pitch again against the Twins on Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at Girsh Park.

  1. not a good idea to have a 12 year old kid pitch 6 innings in a little league game. the coaches and parents should look at the bigger picture and save the kids arm so it is still good in the years to come. i’ve seen too many kids who have worn out their pitching arm before they even get out of high school. just my 2 cents but congrats to the him anyway.

  2. Let me get this straight. The kid pitches 6 innings on tuesday and then he is scheduled to pitch again four days later on saturday? Isn’t there some little league rule limiting the number of innings a player can pitch in one week? If such a rule does not exist then it should. I agree with ex-players thoughts on this one.

he pitched on april 23. his next scheduled start is on april 30. that is 7 days (1 week) and that is allowable under little league rules. just for your information. i kind of agree that that’s a lot of throwing in one week but if that’s what the coach and the parents want to do then it is ok.
