Lompoc’s Jason Brosseau was the fastest area finisher at the Boston Marathon, and Santa Barbara’s Susie Adams was the first local woman to cross the finish line on Monday in the 115th running of the world-famous 26.2-mile race.
Brossuau, 25, finished in 2 hours, 48 minutes, 46 seconds, while Adams, 42, was timed in 3:09.58. She was the fourth highest finisher from Santa Barbara.
Rick Jones, 42, of Goleta was the second fastest local finisher in 2:55.08. He was followed by John Steffins, 41, of Lompoc in 2:58.36 and Goletan Doug Christ, 28, in 2:58.42.
Carpinteria’s Ricky Hook just missed cracking the three-hour barrier, finishing in 3:00.33. Santa Barbara’s Peter Feldman was right behind at 3:00.34. Santa Barbarans David Thompson, 40, (3:03.10) and Jim Sloan, 53, (3:03.56) were next before the first finisher from Montecito, Matt Enna, 36, in 3:06.35.
The top five women from the area were Adams, Elizabeth Gans of Goleta (3:13.16), Susan Moran, 34, of Santa Barbara (3:17.53), Kelly Castle, 34, of Santa Barbara (3:18.59) and Deanna Odell, 44, of Santa Barbara (3:26.54).
