Bishop Diego baseball moved to 3-0 in the Frontier League by defeating Fillmore 3-2 on Friday at Fillmore.
The Cardinals started their offensive scoring in the second inning with a one-run double by Reese Moulton. A bunt base hit brought in Jack Gregson in the fourth, bringing the score to 2-0 before Fillmore brought in a run in the bottom of the fourth.
Hank Vanderfin scored a run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly ball from Cody Yokubaitis to put the Cardinals ahead 3-1. Fillmore scored one more run in the sixth, but not enough to take the win.
“Overall we played very well. It was good baseball on both sides,” said Bishop coach Dan Yokubaitis
Vanderfin pitched all seven innings for the Cardinals, allowing only two runs and five hits for the day. Vanderfin is now 1-0
Bishop Diego (6-2 overall) is home against Villanova on Monday.
