Carpinteria softball went on a tear at the plate on Tuesday against Malibu, scoring 19 runs on 19 hits with zero errors in a 5-inning mercy rule Frontier League game.
The Warriors put together nine consecutive hits in the second inning in the 19-2 win
Catalina Maldonado (10-3) pitched a complete game, allowing only four hits while striking out seven. Maldonado also finished with two doubles.
“After yesterday’s game (a 2-0 win over Viewpoint) we talked about remaining focused, and we did a really good job of doing that today,” said coach Henry Gonzales. “I am pleased with our overall performance.”
Junior Dakotah Wilcox finished with three triples, while senior Amy Avila finished 4-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Malibu’s Devin Dimattia had one triple in the fourth to help score the Sharks only two runs.
Carpinteria (5-0 in league) plays Channels Islands on Wednesday in a non-league game.
