Carpinteria baseball defeated San Luis Obispo’s Mission Prep 6-2 on Friday in a non-league matchup.
Mission Prep came out of the first inning with a 2-1 lead.
Carpinteria scored five runs with help from Jose Carrillo, who was 1-for-2 with three runs scored, a RBI and a stolen base. Zack Boberg was 1-3 with one run and 2 RBIs.
Carpinteria used three different pitchers to put away Mission prep. Victor Garcia pitched four innings, giving up five hits and a walk, while striking out eight. Matt Damron took over in the fifth, striking out two in the inning. Trevor Madden finished off the game pitching the sixth and seventh, allowing three walks while striking out two.
“We had a good day,” said Carpinteria coach Pat Cooney. “Our guys did a good job paying attention to what we had to do today to get the win.”
Carpinteria moves to 5-4 overall. The Warriors next game is Wednesday at home against St. Bonaventure
