Westmont women breeze past winless Hope

Twenty-fifth ranked Westmont Women’s Tennis (1-7, 1-5 GSAC) had an easy go of it in Fullerton, sweeping the Royals of Hope International (0-10, 0-6) by a score of 9-0 in the Golden State Athletic Conference match-up.

The Warriors won four of the six singles matches without giving up a game. At number one, Ilissa Mathews swept Patricia Espinosa while at number three, Jenna Nelson blanked Petra Gentner. Sarah Chhum won 6-0, 6-0 at number four over Katrina Rosales and Leah Smith pulled off the “0 and 0” at number six over Gypsy Flores.

At number two singles, Sarah Louie won 6-1, 6-0 over Kasey Martin while at number five, Ari Stork notched a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Kasey Harman.

In doubles action, Westmont’s number two and three teams won by scores of 8-0. At number two, Nelson and Louie swept Rosales and Harmon while at number three Stork and Smith did the same to Flores and TaLisha Cowan.

On the number one doubles court, Mathews and Chhum earned an 8-2 victory over Espinosa and Gentner,
