Elyse Rodriguez hit sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Carpinteria High’s softball team to a 2-1 win over Hueneme on Wednesday.
The Warriors won despite committing six errors in the game.
“It’s always good when you find a way to win,” coach Henry Gonzales said.
Hueneme took a 1-0 lead in the sixth, but Carpinteria battled back to tie the score in the bottom of the inning. Tiera Kephart’s two-out single scored Roxanne Hugo for the run.
In the eighth, Hugo was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a Tatiana Verdugo single and reached third when Kephart was walked to load the bases. Rodriguez followed with the sacrifice fly.
The Warriors (5-1) play a doubleheader at Nipomo on Saturday.
